We offer our students a broad range of opportunities to extend and deepen their learning beyond the standard school day through a variety of classes sponsored by our community partners and volunteers.

English Conversation Class (Mondays and Wednesdays 3:30pm – 5:00pm) –
Improve your English speaking and listening skills with your peers. Taught by Ms. Anna-Ruby.
English and Homework Support (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays: 3:30pm – 5:00pm)
– Work with a tutor on your classwork and projects or use one of the computers in the library. Get multilingual support from our instructional assistants, too. Through partnership with Refugee Women's Alliance
Job Readiness Training Program (Tuesdays and Thursdays after school)
– For Vietnamese- and Spanish-speaking students. Have a chance to learn jobs skills and explore post-graduation options, including colleges and universities. This includes getting a summer internship and earning a stipend. Through partnership with the Vietnamese Friendship Association
and El Centro de la Raza
Robotics (Mondays and Fridays 3:30 – 8:00 pm)
– Improve your math, science, technology, and English skills by building robots and participating in robotics competitions. Students may also receive school credit through this class. Speak with Ms. Wu

Saturday English School (Saturdays 9 am – 12pm) –
Get extra help with homework from instructional assistants and tutors and practice your English and math skills. Lunch is provided at 12. Takes place in the Seattle World School cafeteria. Please note that on weekends where there is a school holiday on Friday or Monday or a school break preceding or following, there will be no Saturday School.
Capoeira (Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30 – 5) –
Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian art form that is a mix of acrobatics, rituals, and dance. This class combines history, music, singing, and movement. Drop in at the gym if you are interested! Through partnership with the International Capoeira Angola Foundation.
Dance (Wednesdays 3:30 – 5:30) –
Learn dances to any songs you like! Explore different genres of dance including hip-hop
, and almost any other genre you are interested in! Optionally, you can perform in front of your fellow students! Dance class is taught by Miss Ali from VFA.
Running (Thursdays 3:30 – 5 and optional Saturday races) –
Train and run in community races with experienced coaches. Learn running strategies and how to improve efficiency.
Young Mens’ Soccer -
Join the boys’ soccer team led by Coach Pete and play against other community soccer teams. There is a tryout process and additional documents that are needed.
Young Womens’ Soccer -
Join SWS' girls’ soccer team led by Coach Justine. It is a great way to learn soccer skills and be part of a supportive team. Through partnership with International Community Health Services.
Bike Repair (Wednesdays 3:45 – 5:45) – Learn how to repair and build a bike, and take the finished project home to keep! Students must be able to attend ALL of the 8 classes in order to build their bike. There is only room for 8 students in each Bike Repair class. Through partnership with Bike Works. The class takes place at Coyote Central
Cooking (Wednesdays and Fridays 3:45 – 5:45) –Prepare meals in a commercial-grade kitchen. Make dishes from scratch with healthy ingredients. Opportunity to earn a stipend. Through partnership with Coyote Central, and classes take place at Coyote Central on 23rd & Cherry.
