Summer School 2020 Options
For summer 2020, there are 4 possible summer school opportunities for Seattle World School students (see below for more information). Students should contact Rusty Hibbert, SWS counselor, at rthibbert@seattleschools.org with questions or to get enrolled. Space in limited in all programs so the sooner a student registers the more likely they are to get a space.
- What: Seattle World School Summer School
Who: Current Seattle World School students
When: Tuesday – Friday June 30- July 31. 4 hours a day, 4 days a week
Class time: AM: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm Tentative or PM: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Tentative
What Credit Will I Earn: .5 art credit
Theme: The theme of the summer course will be an exploration of various Seattle neighborhoods. Students will have weekly reading, writing, and art projects and will also participate in virtual field trips.
- What: Seattle World PASS Packet (Independent study packets)
Who: SWS High School students who have not completed the health requirement.
When: Tuesday, June 30 – Friday, July 31.
Class time: Students will arrange 2 meetings per week with Mariela for support and to complete required assessments. Must complete all 5 units in order to earn credit
What Credit Will I Earn: .5 health credit
- What: Seattle Public Schools Skills Center Program
Who: Any current SPS high school student or rising 9th grader
When: Tuesday, July 7 to Friday, July 31 for a total of 19 days.
Class time: 11:00am to 3:15pm, Monday through Friday.
What Credit Will I Earn: .5 CTE credit
Theme: Students learn a range of technical “hard” skills related to a career path while building their 21st century “soft” skills.

- What: Seattle Public Schools Credit Retrieval
Who: Any current SPS high school student or rising 9th grader
When: July 6-August 7
Class time: To be determined
What Credit Will I Earn: Up to 1.0 high school credit in selected subject areas
Theme: Students will participate in virtual, project-based learning opportunities. More details to come
