Sports/Active Classes
Capoeira (Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30 – 5) – Capoeira
is an Afro-Brazilian art form that is a mix of acrobatics, rituals, and
dance. This class combines history, music, singing, and movement. Drop
in at the gym if you are interested! Through partnership with the
International Capoeira Angola Foundation.
Dance (Wednesdays 3:30 – 5:30) – Learn dances to any songs you like! Explore different genres of dance including
hip-hop,
reggaeton,
salsa,
modern/contemporary,
and almost any other genre you are interested in! Optionally, you can
perform in front of your fellow students! Dance class is taught by Miss
Ali from VFA.
Running (Thursdays 3:30 – 5 and optional Saturday races) – Train and run in community races with experienced coaches. Learn running strategies and how to improve efficiency.
Young Mens’ Soccer - Join the boys’ soccer team led by
Coach Pete and play against other community soccer teams. There is a
tryout process and additional documents that are needed.
Young Womens’ Soccer - Join SWS' girls’ soccer team led
by Coach Justine. It is a great way to learn soccer skills and be part
of a supportive team. Through partnership with International Community
Health Services.
